Last week we attended the first ever SME2017 at the NEC, Birmingham. Organised by Platform Business Media the event attracted a good mix of people from across the Midlands and beyond.
From our Creative Digital Agency perspective, it was a good event and Russell, our resident SEO and PPC specialist, supported our presence at the show by presenting a well-attended talk on “Debunking SEO Myths”. Click here for a copy of the slides.
Footfall “undulated” as normal for these events and we met with independent consultants, middle management marketers, right through to MD’s and CEO’s of large organisations - some were launching new businesses - some were expanding by launching new products and services - but above all, everyone was upbeat - and we had considerable interest in our Finding New Markets case study where we looked at finding prospective contacts for clients in the Middle East, starting with Dubai where we have a network of known support agencies.
Networking opportunities were excellent and we were surprised at how much funding was available across the West Midlands via grants to help R&D, product launches and marketing. Our integrated digital services place us in the ideal position to help businesses in the West Midlands - many companies were surprised that we had a large in-house team of 18 - and were equally impressed that we have built and retained a strong client base over the past 15 years.
We were pleased to have met over 100 interested parties and only time will tell if the event will deliver ROI - but as they say - you have to be in it to win it!
Above all - it was an enjoyable couple of days out of the office!
