Authenticity
Being more authentic and genuine online showing real people, real lives, real faces is the trend for 2024. Arguably this is a pushback against AI and lack of authenticity from some online sources over the past few years. This year, we predict the ‘end of the influencer era’. instead, people will be encouraged to become a relatable human rather than a polished brand online. This will include brands and marketers showing more ‘behind the scenes’ details, being upfront and honest with their clients and more transparency than ever before.
AI
Despite calls for authenticity, our continued embrace of AI will not stop in 2024, as we continue to find new uses for AI in our everyday lives. Did you know you could use AI to drive cars, write code and conserve energy? We’ve used it recently to create some cute Christmas cards for some of our clients that we’ve worked with this year, what do you think?
There are also ethical conversations to be had around AI, how it’s trained, and how it’s used. There’s no doubt it’s here to stay - and it’s been part of Google Ads and other tools for years - but we’ll be looking to make sure we use it in the best way possible.
Customer Experience (CX)
In 2024, customers are going to be looking for value and quality with every experience they have with a brand. This is only going to matter more as the cost of living continues to challenge consumers on how and where they spend their money. Looking after your customers and ensuring a positive experience with your company is going to be more important than ever. As the newest service we offer, we’re excited to see new and old clients embrace good CX practice. If this sounds like something you need help with, find out more at our brand new CX website here.
Maximalist design
In terms of design, we expect to see graphics with rounded corners, ‘squishiness’ and an overall maximalist design. In 2023 we saw the continued rise of nostalgic design, with style ripped straight from the late 90’s and early 2000’s. You can see this in Pepsi’s rebrand, which takes influence from it’s previous branding from the 1990’s. In 2024, this isn’t going anywhere, with wackier and bolder design choices.
You can see this in Trivago’s new branding too, with the travel comparison site opting for a playful and bold new design in their recently unveiled rebrand.
Sustainable web design
Did you know that the world's internet usage makes up nearly 4% of global CO2 emissions? As we’ve already spoken about in our blog back in 2023, sustainable web design and development is an absolute must in 2024. As 2023 was the hottest year on record, there’s no time to waste making sure we do our bit for the environment. We’re proud that our office runs entirely on renewable energy and we are continuing to make a conscious effort to reduce CO2 emissions on all of our websites.
