The Technical Bits
Yes, the Hyvä theme is lightning fast – but how does it actually work? Functionally, Hyvä throws out all the CSS and JavaScript used by the current Luma theme, and starts afresh. Luma used hundreds of JS files and libraries, which have all been replaced with one single JS framework, called Alpine.JS. On the CCS side of things, Tailwind is utilised to reduce overall CSS output by over 90% compared to traditional systems like RequireJS, Knockout.ks, JQuery and others.
This new, leaner codebase results in a much faster storefront experience, in part simply due to the lower amount of code delivered to the end user. Utilising simplified code also makes development faster, more efficient and less prone to bugs. With shorter development times for both builds and on-going maintenance, Hyvä has become a more cost-effective solution than other Magento themes.
