At the end of 2022, we looked deeply into our crystal ball, and predicted the following for digital:
In 2023, we’ve continued to work with services like Cookie Script to help facilitate cookie consent management for some of our client’s websites. This is a continued effort to ensure that we are all compliant with privacy laws and guidelines, which is a continued theme into 2024.
As predicted in 2022 (why does that feel so long ago?!) We anticipated that AI would continue to be a huge disruptor in digital in 2023. Boy, were we right! From Marvel using AI to create the opening credits to their ‘Secret Wars’ TV series in the summer to Microsoft and Google unveiling their own branded AI technology, AI has been the hot topic of the year.
Last year, we successfully utilised AI to generate images for a client, saving us over 60% project time and costs. It’s also helped with content idea generation, given non-coders the ability to write scripts without the help of the development team, and much more. We’re interested to see the potential for AI in 2024.
Short Form Video
In 2022 we predicted the rise of short form video content across the year - this of course continues to be the case, with users on TikTok growing to over 1 billion as of July 2023. Our digital marketing team has been testing ad placements on TikTok and we’ve been sharing reels over the year on our Instagram page. We’ve seen video ads work really well for engagement on Facebook, with other ad types driving better ROI and sale volume.
Website Load Times
In 2023, we continued to make huge improvements across page speeds (something that your customers and your SEO will always thank you for). In particular, we’ve been using the Hyvä theme for Magento, which scores 100/100 on Google’s page speed out of the box!
Keep your eyes peeled for our next blog, where we reveal our predictions for 2024 and beyond…
