Last week, Facebook announced a new feature to Facebook Shops to help small businesses resume trade on Facebook and Instagram. You can now complete your purchases on Facebook Shops itself, rather than being sent somewhere else.
Not sure what Facebook Shops is or what we’re talking about? Don’t worry – we’ll explain everything
What is Facebook Shops?
Since the announcement, Facebook Shop remains much the same – making it easy and free for companies to sell on Facebook and Instagram. Like before, customers can browse through your shop, which shows a product image, title and price. However, the buying process is where we see the change.
What changed on Facebook Shops?
Before, when customers were shopping on Facebook or Instagram, they would end up app-switching to enter card details, which could be a slow and irritating process. Facebook is partnering with ecommerce giants to enable Facebook and Instagram shoppers to buy all in one place.
The new changes include
- Faster and easier shopping experience
- New app features to help people discover things from small businesses
- Dedicated shopping tab
- Live shopping features to allow real-time live shopping (coming soon)
- Use AI and augmented reality to create a better shopping experience
Not only does this make it easier for customers to shop, but Facebook is allowing small businesses to personalise their storefront. They’ll be able to show products most relevant to users and use augmented reality to enhance the online experience - the shopper can really see how those sunglasses look on them. All these changes apply to Instagram too.
Benefit of selling on Facebook
Facebook is becoming a one-stop-shop for small retail businesses and you don’t even have to leave your room! Businesses can advertise on Facebook, manage customer services on Messenger and WhatsApp and now set up a full online store with Facebook Shops.
