Pete, our Digital Marketing Director, recently headed to Harper Adams University to share his business expertise with the students.
We’ve been working with Harper Adams on its Grow Your Future project – an awareness campaign hoping to encourage students from a wide range of backgrounds to consider a career as a Rural Practice Chartered Surveyor.
Grow Your Future was founded by Andrew Black, who wanted to promote the profession. He’d encountered a general lack of awareness about the career and found many people didn’t know about the benefits of the career. The campaign included a new website, promotional merchandise for visiting shows and a social media strategy to develop the Grow Your Future brand and increase awareness.
Due to the success of the campaign, Pete was asked to present to a group of 50 students, who are in their final year of studying Rural Enterprise and Land Management (REALM). The students were tasked with roleplaying as Chartered Surveyors with a panel of potential land and property investors. As this is a key aspect of the career, Pete’s aim was to help them present this. He demonstrated a wide range of presentation tricks and tips, and highlighted the importance of preparation and research.
Andrew Black chaired the sessions and said:

I have never failed to be impressed by their attention to detail, creative abilities and willingness to come and speak to my students. The Grow Your Future project was launched officially in April 2019 and has received overwhelming industry support from the biggest names in the industry, including the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the NFU.”
