Is your website lighting up the internet?

5 Quick tips to help boost your Search Engine Optimisation (if you do them right).

Your site needs to be fully responsive

People are viewing sites from a huge range of devices and sizes, long gone are the days of a desktop-only design. Not only do your users demand an optimised experience on whatever device they’re using, but Google does too. It favours websites that are fully responsive and if you want to increase your chances of appearing in front of your audience, you need to make sure your site is working for all shapes and sizes.

It needs to be secure (SSL)

In the increasing world of cyber crime, there are two types of website, secure ones and potentially dangerous ones. The latest versions of Chrome and Firefox have started naming and shaming – if you don’t have an SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate in place, they’ll label your website: “not secure”. The SSL certificate places the green secure padlock to the left of the URL box, giving users peace of mind and the confidence to use your site in safety.

It should be fast

No one likes waiting around these days, and especially not for your website to load. If your site isn’t loading within 1-2 seconds, it’s too slow and many visitors will simply go elsewhere.

Google knows how fast your website is and it knows that users want a fast site, so expect rankings to drop if your site takes an age to load.

Keep things tidy

Good housekeeping is important if you want Google to be able to explore your site easily and understand what the content is about. Fixing any broken links and ensuring pages have logical titles and meta descriptions of the right length are just some of the ways you can do this.

Updating titles and meta descriptions and fixing broken links are some of the first things we’ll do for new SEO clients. Here’s a video explaining more about this.

Make sure people can find you

Are you being found? That’s the big question! What are your target audiences typing into Google and are you showing for these all-important keywords? If you’re not on page 1, you’re unlikely to be found.

We can run a free website audit and SEO audit to see exactly how you’re performing and help you get the best out of your website.
