They fabricate reliable liners and roofing solutions from high-performance materials like EPDM, butyl and PVC, manufacturing all products in their own factories in the South West. Their philosophy is to supply the best quality product at a great price.
The brief
We’ve built a strong relationship with Stephen’s Industries over the years, working closely with two of their trading sites as well. In July 2022, we began developing a new website and updated branding for the client. The site needed to be refreshed, the user experience improved and the client’s comprehensive offering made more evident.
From a digital marketing side, our priorities were ensuring the website was built with SEO in mind, preserving existing rankings and building up the authority of the domain.
Our strategy
We needed to ensure existing optimisation wasn’t lost. So, before redirecting any pages from the current site, we made sure all optimised copy and meta tags were copied over to the new one.
The new site benefitted from extra pages, so there were additional meta tags required. Services like Returnable Packaging were going to be made more prominent in the new navigation, so we researched fresh keywords to expand our targeting.
As the domain was changing, we needed to ensure web directories were updated with a link to the new domain. We also researched more local directories and submitted the new site to further improve domain authority.
SEO is a process, so we weren’t expecting results overnight. However, once the pages on the current site were redirected, we noticed results looked promising, with organic traffic increasing almost immediately.
We then began our usual optimisation work to get the site to appear higher in the search results. This included on-page optimisation, expanding copy on key pages on the site and adding more helpful content to keep up with Google algorithm updates. We also kept on top of technical fixes, performed backlink research and audits, and much more.
The results
When we first started working with Stephen’s Industries, average keyword position was around 58. That means, on average, they appeared low down page six of the search results. As of April 2024, average position is 10, with over 25 of our tracked terms ranking on page one.
As a result, organic traffic continues to increase significantly year on year and currently makes up over 60% of overall traffic.
