The brief
NatureSpy approached us to help with their digital marketing and make their hard-earned funds go further – allowing them to help more wildlife!
As a social enterprise, their profits are put back into research and conversation projects. They work with other organisations all over the world and are dedicated to helping all sorts of creatures, from wildcats in Scotland to Andean bears in Ecuador.
With two websites on one domain – one on WordPress and one on Shopify – the situation was a little more complicated than usual. Cleaning up the Google Analytics data and improving the ROI of the existing Google Ads account were the main priorities. They had been working with another local agency previously, and we were confident we could get better results.
Our strategy
The first step was to get one Google Analytics account working across both sites to eliminate issues caused by switching from one to the other. We redid the conversion setup and got all the data in line so we could properly measure the results of our work.
We then paused the Google Ads for a couple of days, overhauled the whole account, and relaunched it.
The old account suffered from a vast amount of complexity. There had been a lot of activity previously, but basic best practices weren’t in place. We fixed all that and created a new structure that would be much easier and more efficient to manage going forward.
The results
When we relaunched the Google Ads, the results were dramatic. Before we started work (in January), the ads were generating slightly less than they were spending. The refresh came in February, with a dramatic decrease in spend, but virtually no loss of revenue. Since then, revenue has increased massively, with only a modest increase in spend.
The ads are now giving a proper return on investment!
Return on Ad Spend was 94% in January 2022. By March, it was 2,793%.
We’re now working with NatureSpy on SEO too. The average position of their keywords has improved from 18 to 10 in less than two months. That includes four extra rankings on page one of the search results.
