Pockets is a long-standing British retailer known for curating premium menswear brands across multiple store locations and an established ecommerce presence.

We had previously supported Pockets with its Magento 2 store. As the business matured, it became clear that Shopify would offer a more scalable, streamlined, and user-friendly platform — both online and in-store.

We were brought in to lead the complete migration to Shopify, integrate Shopify POS across all store locations, and carry forward key design and UX elements from the Magento site — all while improving operational efficiency and ecommerce functionality.

Pockets’ Magento store had reached its limits. With frequent developer reliance, slower site performance, and a need for better in-store and online cohesion, the business needed a platform built for growth.

Objective

Migrate to Shopify and unify ecommerce and POS through a scalable, user-friendly solution. Deliver a Shopify site reflecting the existing visual identity while improving speed, functionality, and data flow across retail locations.

Shopify Migration

We led a full migration from Magento 2 to Shopify, ensuring minimal disruption and preserving data integrity throughout. Magento’s structure was carefully mapped to Shopify’s model using Matrixify, allowing for seamless transfer of products, orders, customers, and collections.

URL redirects and Smart SEO implementation ensured search rankings were maintained post-migration.

POS Integration

We rolled out Shopify POS Pro across all five retail stores to unify the in-store and online experience. Staff were trained on POS features including returns, exchanges, order attribution, and inventory syncing.

Real-time stock visibility and streamlined hardware setup including card terminals and printers eliminated manual admin and reduced support queries from store teams.

UX Implementation & Theme Development

We recreated the look and feel of the Magento site while introducing UX enhancements tailored for Shopify. The theme was built mobile-first, with responsive layouts, clear visual hierarchy, and best-practice ecommerce design. Elements like hero banners, category navigation, and product cards were restructured for speed and usability.

Product Filter & Navigation Enhancements

Using Shopify’s Search & Discovery app, we introduced robust filtering for key product attributes — including size, leg length, suit fit, and brand. A new A–Z brand listing was developed to improve user browsing. Sorting options were refined to allow multi-select filtering, improving product discovery across devices.

Data Migration

All Magento store data was migrated via Matrixify, including customers, orders, product data, and discounts. Due to Shopify’s structure, manual re-entry was required for a small number of gift cards and blog posts. Redirects and canonical tags were implemented to reduce the risk of SEO performance drop.

SEO Tracking & Marketing Enablement

We configured GA4, Microsoft UET, and Meta tracking across the new site. Enhanced conversions and Consent Mode v2 were deployed to maximise data fidelity under privacy-first conditions. Product feeds for Google, Meta, and Microsoft were optimised to drive paid performance through Shopping and remarketing ads.
